Mr Mahanko, can we talk about this for a sec? I hate to complain about price in a review cuz if you dont like it, you dont have to pay it (and this review score wasnt influenced by that), but really. Come on, guy, $3 for 25ish pages, after you blindsided us with a shacking cliffhanger? It should have been a free read on your website, or a $.99 download at most. I know, I know, youre 'paying for translations', but you have loyal readers who have followed for at least 5 books (and Im guessing more than a few have followed you to your new series, simply because *you* wrote it - I did). It's stupid but I feel kind of taken advantage of. You always ask for reviews to get your name out, and we're happy to comply because we like you, but what is our time worth? Forgive me for being a snob but if book one had only had 8 reviews, I likely wouldnt have even clicked on it. This review has already taken up more than $3 of my hourly, so I'll end but.. I am disappoint, as the kids say.

Evil, Nefarious People threaten to kill Mahon, or Stacey's family, or her dog or something, unless she gives them the goods. She doesnt want to but they'll killllllllllllllll hiiiiiimmmmmmm (or her puppy) and she'd rather have him hate her than be dead, The druid whats-her-name (it took me awhile to review this :)) is her mom and was planted in the guild to get close to him. I cant remember if Mom was planted before the Evil Nefarious People threatened the puppy and liked him, or after to help save the puppy, but Mom was all torn about the betrayal too. She manages to hug Stacey tightly and whisper, "At least Spot will live" while Stacey weeps and feels guilty, and her dad looks on helplessly.

Don't waste your money it's barely a chapter let alone a short story. Your better off waiting for the next book and saving your money.
I only gave this book 1 star because I could not give lower. This is not even a chapter, much less a book. It is only a perspective change from the end of book 5. And not even that much of a insight from that perspective. This would have been a good "Bonus Feature" to book 6. $.99 would have been too much to pay for this. I am not sure "Free" would have been cheep enough.
Honestly, could have been more fleshed out. Honestly, could have just been added to another book as it's only 20 pages. Not worth it for the price.
The ending of the last book was just utterly implausible. It simply didnt make sense and the readers of this series were left with a completely contrived and unsatisfying feeling. This short, expensive piece of garbage is one of two things an act of utter incompetence in story telling, or (more likely) a truly reprehensible money grab unlike ive ever seen by an author.

I waited for the price to come down and broke down and bought this for three bucks-and its a rip-off at that price. Consider this 20 pages for three dollars compared to just under 500 pages for six bucks.

I dont think ive ever given a one star review but after the treatment of this author to his fan base, i will not be reading any of his work again. This is not butt-hurt or a knee jerk reaction, and im not upset as i calmly write this. I just dont want to support authors that rip people off in such an obvious way. If you consider my words i would expect most people to agree with my logic. And if he screwed up the ending so bad that he basically needed to rewrite it, that should have been a free 20 pages not a separate cost.

I gave the author the benefit of the doubt and bought this nonsense hoping i could come up with some reason for why the author would do what he did. It sadly just confirmed the above.
While I love the series, this is rather expensive for what essentially amounts to a short spoiler where a lot of the text is copy pasted from the original story since this a retelling of the end of the book from a different viewpoint.
WTF!!! what do you call a short story that is more than short... the Hour of Pain. what do you charge for such a story sure as *&%$ not 2.99 maybe .99 would have been fair. what do you say about an author who leaves you hanging with his story, then sells you an spoiler for a high price...exploitative.
