My entire family (young children, upper elementary children, and adults) was captivated by this audio book. Well done technically with many narrators; an absolute pleasure to listen to. The storyline itself uses many quotes from Titanic passengers and weaves together stories of individual passengers (often using their own words from letters or subsequent testimony) to really bring the sinking of the Titanic to life. We learned so much about the Titanic through listening to this book that we ended up doing our own additional research, including library books and videos, to see pictures of the ship and passengers described in the book. Excellent for anyone with an interest in history. Also makes an excellent unit study for homeschoolers. (Many, many free additional resources are available online and in the library.) History presented like this is definitely not boring! Enliven the minds of your entire family with this audiobook. I wish we could find many, many more audiobooks to bring other historical events to life in such a memorable and enjoyable way. Highly recommended!

No one will ever now what when through the minds of the people on the titanic. Just thinking of it gives me chills, the cold black night and water. How it happened yes we know an iceberg, but the question is why. So much loss of life. My heart cries for those lost, and tears of joy for those who lived.

I am very pleased with the text but a bit disappointed by the lack of photographs. I purchased this book for a friend as a gift and am very glad that I purchased two other volumes which were mainly photographic in nature to accompany this volume. I will say that since I purchased the other two books, it wasn't quite the disappointment it would have been if I had only purchased this one book. Great for reading but if you want photographs, look elsewhere.
The Titanic story is a modern tragedy set in the "Romeo and Juliet" style. The reader cannot help but ask himself, while turning the pages, what if this, that and the other had happened? More care, less speed, sufficient life boats, etc. But the tragedy is always looming above the deadly iceberg. Fate cannot be averted. The author wrote a fascinating book (among many) that renders the story in a succinct and riveting style. It covers the testimonies of the survivors from every class on the ship in a moving and honest manner. I truly enjoyed reading this book.
Great book for kids maybe grade three and up with plenty of pictures. Good for history/social studies. Easy to read. We went to see the Titanic display in Las Vegas and our six-year-old granddaughter loves this book as she remembers so much from seeing the display. She loves the pictures and hopefully will want to read it as she gets older. Great info for teachers as well.
